Quarterback Vinny Testaverde will start for the Carolina Panthers in Sunday's game against
Head coach John Fox announced the news at Friday's practice, clearing up whether the team's starter would be Testaverde or David Carr, who is recovering from a back injury.
"It is not an indictment on David Carr by any stretch," Fox said. "He's healthy enough to play, but I don't think he's 100 percent."
Carr did go through the team's full practice Friday. But Testaverde, 43, will get his second consecutive start, after leading the Panthers to a 25-10 win over
He became the oldest starting quarterback to win a start in NFL history, and the Panthers' acquisition of Testaverde proved to be a smart, if necessary, move.
Carr - who replaced
The team signed Testaverde three days later, and will go with him at quarterback for another week, attempting to go for its third win in a row. Fox said the Panthers' offense won't change with Testaverde in.
