PASTAPLANT2007-10-19-1192832525.jpgThe world's largest producer of pasta products ceremoniously opened its second US manufacturing facility complete with emotional remarks by its President Guido Barilla, who was moved to tears when speaking of a "dream come true" for his family.

Barilla's new plant 25 miles south of Rochester will be able to produce up to 100,000 tons of pasta per annum when it reaches full capacity next year.  The $75-million facility employs about 120 people in Livingston County.P-BARILLAPASTA2007-10-19-1192832546.jpg

Barilla is a 130 year old firm based in Parma, Italy. Despite the fact that its products only became available in the US a decade ago, it is the nation's best selling brand of pasta.

Mario Daniele, who owns two popular Italian Restaurants serves Barilla Pasta, and swears by the stuff. "Yes I do," he said. "I believe it's the most popular pasta in Italy, the United States, and in Rochester for that matter."
