PAETEC employees react to move

"First of all, wow!” said PAETEC employee Elizabeth Schirmer. That was the consensus among many PAETEC employees.

"To know that my company's headquarters will be right in the thick of the action I could just not have been more thrilled,” she said.

In its years in Perinton the company has quickly outgrown the space.

"We are just putting desks everywhere and with the way that the company is growing, it's growing at a consistent, constant rate here and a move to downtown and such a building is going to be a very good move for this company,” said employee Edward Paffendorf.

Paffendorf also thinks it will be great for Rochester. With the heydays of Midtown Plaza long gone he thinks a new PAETEC headquarters could be the start of something big.

"I think that Rochester needs to bring back Downtown to what it used to; being a young company this company is really going to benefit downtown Rochester,” he said.

PAETEC employee Jason White has selfish reasons for supporting the move. He already lives in the city.

"The commute will be nice,” White said.

But White also says no one loses with the move.

"I think it's a win-win situation. Paetec gets a much needed larger building, we're growing and it's going to help us out a lot and we get to be part of the effort revitalizing downtown Rochester,” he said.

Not every employee is thrilled with the move, some will have longer commutes, but most say they are still are excited by the change.
