Marketing Excellus

Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield has hit upon a rather unique --and healthy way to get the word out about their new program....Healthy-Blue.
"Uh, I got the burn going!"
And you might be too if you were like Steve Mack, one of two men hired to spread the word about the Excellus program via peddle power.
"It's not bad. We have to watch for low branches and people but its' not too bad today."
Steve works with marquis media, the same company that has a fleet of billboards towed by pickup trucks. But he says sitting behind the wheel of a vehicle all day, didn't really seem like a good fit, so they hit upon the idea of using these quadracycles to push a healthier lifestyle, which is after all what the campaign is all about.
"…we're getting exercise and promoting good health. It's a healthy way to promote a health care provider."
For the next month Steve and a partner's job will be to ply the streets of downtown, for up to 6 hours a day.
"The only time it's really bad is if you get rained on," says Steve.
And while it's not lost on him that it has been known to snow in October, the forecast --for at least the next week, is for unusually sunny and warm conditions. Leading him to conclude there are far worse ways to make a living.
"It's wonderful. It's not even work!"
