An Ontario County man is facing charges in the death of a 20 year old. Investigators say that Kathryn Saxby’s death could have been prevented. Carl Erb Junior is behind bars at the Ontario County Jail. The 48 year old from Manchester is facing manslaughter charges in the July 15th death of Saxby. Police say Saxby died from a drug overdose.
"Her death could have been prevented if the proper medical attention had been administered to her or if she had been taken to the hospital by the person who was arrested,” said Sgt. Daniel Ball with Canandaigua police.
Saxby’s body was found on the side of the road at a mobile home park off Saltonstall Street in Canandaigua. Her death has shaken neighbors in what they say is a normally quiet neighborhood.
"Pretty shocking, it's hard to believe all the drugs that are going around here. It's a pretty quiet neighborhood I don't have any problems with anybody around here,” said Ricky Lloyd.
Lloyd has lived here for 17 years. He spent the day decorating for Halloween, something he does every year for the kids in the neighborhood. Now he worries about them.
"I got a 12 year old daughter, it’s pretty scary hearing about these drugs its hard try to keep her in the yard but it's kind of hard,” said Lloyd
"It's very sad when a young person dies but at this point in time it's in the hands of the DA for prosecution,” said Ball.
Erb is expected in court Wednesday to answer to the second degree manslaughter charge.
