Honeoye Falls substitute teacher charged with sex offense

23-year old Tim Meehan, a former substitute teacher at Honeoye Falls High School was charged with having sexual contact with at least two female students.
“My son did summer recreation center programs through Honeoye Falls for several years and Tim was a counselor. Probably one of my son’s favorite counselors,” said Debbie Crecco. “He was always that calm quiet one. I never suspected anything like this,” said Nico Crecco.
School officials say Meehan was a substitute teacher for just 17 days last school year but was terminated on May 31st when the allegations came up. “We were a bit surprised. This was a young man who is well respected he had good character references and was very involved in the community,” said Superintendent Dr. Michele Kavanaugh.
Dr. Kavanaugh says a parent called police and the school when she discovered sexually explicit pictures on her daughter’s cell phone. Dr. Kavanaugh says none of the communications took place with a school phones or computers and none of the alleged incidents took place on school property. “As far as we know there was no contact on school grounds and personal devices were used cell phones and computers off school grounds,” said Kavanaugh. Meehan faces three separate felony charges including disseminating indecent material to a minor, promoting sexual performance of a child, and criminal sexual act in the third degree. Meehan was arraigned in Avon Town Court where his bail was set at $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond.
