P-ANGIE_SWISHLIST2007-09-17-1190069060.jpgImagine taking care of a handful of kids and finding out your home is covered in dangerous lead paint. That's exactly what happened to a Brighton day care owner until her community came to the rescue.

They are chipping away the outside to protect what's inside. Karen Moses has run Best Beginning's Daycare for 10 years here in Brighton...her passion is children, teaching and protecting them.

With the age of Karen's home here in Brighton she realized she might have a problem with lead paint and the tests proved exactly that. The problem is she couldn't afford to fix it until one of her friends nominated her for Angie's Wishlist, a program that gives back to people who have given so much to their community.

"I'm not even sure how it all works but all I know is this is probably one of the most deserving people I've ever met,” says Jaent Chaize.

So deserving because 12 years ago she escaped an abusive relationship and since that time she's helped other women who have been victims of domestic violence.

"We all like to give, but you can't give until somebody's ready to receive,” says Karen. “I feel like I've been able to give a lot over the years and I've been also created an avenue for people to give."

Through Angie's List Wishmakers - local companies are volunteering their services, free of charge to rid her home of the dangerous lead paint.

"It doesn't get any better than that, that's what we all dream in our community is that people come together to do something wonderful, for someone who is so deserving," says Janet.

Karen says, "To me this is what life can be and what it truly is."

Angieslist.com is a website that allows homeowners to rate contractors across the nation. This summer they launched a lead awareness campaign.
