Police say he led them on a chase through the Town of Butler and into Wolcott, hit a guardrail, then struggled with officers before he was arrested. Now, 28-year-old Joe Smith of Rochester is behind bars at the Wayne County Jail waiting to answer to a judge. Smith has been charged with driving while impaired, three counts of unlawful fleeing, resisting arrest, obstruction, reckless driving, and numerous other traffic infractions. Wayne County sheriffs deputies, with the help of New York State Troopers were able to catch Smith by putting down road spikes on Ridge Road, flattening the passenger side tires of Smith's car.
