MELROYBRIEFINGB2007-09-14-1189806313.jpgTonight Rochester native Pam Melroy is getting set to make history. She's the second woman ever to command a NASA space mission and today in Houston, she led her crew of 6 astronauts into a media briefing for news crews around the world.

Their mission is called STS 120. Their main goal is to deliver and install a high tech hallway onto the International Space Station.

"This is an exciting moment for the crew because we've spent the last year talking and thinking about the mission and everything we're going to do and we're very focused on it. But it's all inside the NASA community, so at a moment like this you sort of realize, hey this is the space program and everybody else is interested in it too.  So that's a wonderful and exciting feeling to know.  We're getting close and we're about ready to do this," says Melroy.
