A remarkable rescue on the part of two Rochester fire companies may have saved a man's life last night. Firefighters responded to the home at 180 Friederich Park around 11:30pm for a call of a fire in the second floor apartment. There, they found a man suffering from serious smoke inhalation.
The first fire company on scene was able to rescue the man while the second fire company assisted with his injuries--their quick actions likely saving the man's life. The man was transported to Rochester General Hospital. Two firefighters also sustained minor injuries.
No word yet on what sparked the fire.
