New life for the fast ferry

Tanger_Jet_II2007-08-30-1188494154.jpgRochester's former fast ferry has started a new life in Europe. Service has begun on the Mediterranean shuttling passengers from Morocco to Spain.


Back in April, German company FRS bought the ferry from the City of Rochester for 30 million dollars. Ever since the ferry left, business owners at the port of Rochester say it's been difficult attracting people.


Lee Selover is the president of the Harbor Merchants Association and the owner of Windjammers. He believes the ferry just needed more time to thrive and the news that it's making its debut somewhere else saddens him.


 “The excitement isn't there anymore, I mean when you stop having people come from all over the world and seeing license plates from all over the world flow through Charlotte it was exciting,” says Selover.


The Port of Rochester has an uncertain future. Many ideas have been brought up but no decisions have been made as of yet.
