medicaid2007-08-28-1188317495.jpgThe Office of the Comptroller released the results of an audit into Medicaid Tuesday morning.

According to state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, the state paid nearly 10 million dollars for home care and transportation services that were likely never provided between 2001 and 2006. In some cases, the money was going to hospitalized or deceased patients.

The Department of Health is expected to recover the overpayments and make changes to the eMedNY system to prevent these situations from occurring.
