Seneca Nation Tribe unveils sign along Thruway

A battle is brewing tonight over the right-of-way on the state Thruway.
Today, the Seneca Nation Tribe unveiled a sign on their sovereign land. The large sign alerts motorists that they are driving through the nation's territory and it also says the state will be paying the travel expenses on their behave.
The sign comes months after the tribe claims it voided its Thruway right-of-way land agreement with the state. The tribe is charging the state $28,000 a day for travel...so far the bill due is four million and nine dollars.
The sign is located by exit 57 Silver Creek near Cattaraugus Creek. It's the first of four, two on each side, greeting and thanking motorists for passing safely through tribal lands.
