Grand Jury indicts couple over death of infant

whitfield2007-08-21-1187714778.jpgAn Ontario County grand jury has indicted a man and woman on murder charges for the death of an infant.

Ahkeem Whitfield has been indicted on murder and manslaughter charges after allegedly killing Iyonna Brown inside the Woodridge Hotel in Canandaigua in May. Whitfield faces the murder charges for allegedly burning the baby beating her and subjecting her to blunt force trauma. The manslaughter charge stems from not seeking medical attention for the infant. heather_brown2007-08-21-1187714799.jpg

Also charged with manslaughter is the baby's mother, Heather Brown.  She is said to have two other children. One is 4 years old and the other was born just days ago.

Whitfield is being held on $100,000 cash bail. Brown is being held on $25,000 cash bail.

Both pleaded not guilty to their charges.
