STANDOFFA2007-08-20-1187633454.jpgAfter nearly eight hours police walked 27-year old Anthony Walker, Jr. out of the house where he was held up on North Clinton Avenue and into a police car.

The stand-off began at about eight Sunday morning after police received word that Walker, wanted on attempted murder and assault charges in Seminole County, Florida, was staying at the house owned by his parents. “We are attempting to contact an individual at that address who is wanted for questioning in a homicide and related cases in Florida,” said Rochester Police Chief David Moore.

A police SWAT team was called in to search the house. Residents in the neighborhood were told to stay in their homes and away from the windows. Police used Tequila Wright's home as a staging area. “They came in, knocked on my door told me to stay in the back of he house. They came back an hour or so later said they had to use the second floor bedroom. I'm assuming because we live directly across the street from them,” said Wright.

Jessica Roth planned to go to a bridal shower, instead she was holed up all day in her house. “The police pounded on the door and said make sure you stay in the back of the house because there's something going on across the street and we don’t know if he has access to a weapon or not,” said Roth.

During the stand-off police fired more than a dozen rounds of a chemical agent into the house to flush Walker out. He was finally brought into custody at about three o’clock Sunday afternoon. “He was hiding concealing himself in the basement area of the residence. He was taken into custody without any further incident,” said Chief Moore.

News 8 Now learned Walker was charged in 2005 with Attempted Murder, Robbery, and Assault for an alleged incident in Florida 2004 where a man was pistol whipped during a robbery. Walker now faces extradition to Florida.
