Vogel broke his back when his vehicle was hit by an IED. WOUNDEDSOLDIERBACK22007-08-10-1186757041.jpg

He graduated from Rush Henrietta High School in 2002 and was stationed in Germany for a year and a half before shipping out to Iraq.

Vogel was overwhelmed at the welcoming Thursday night, "definitely shocked, I was not expecting this at all."

Vogel credits body armor for saving his life.
