Cheesecake Factory draws new business

 Pittsford Plaza is buzzing.  It's rare that shops and the parking lot aren't packed.

“Monroe avenue is a hotspot. The mix of stores here a little bit for everyone. Good dining, good shopping a good opportunity for people,” said Pittsford Town Supervisor Bill Carpenter.

 
Thirty thousand cars whiz by everyday along Monroe Avenue and has become a natural destination for customers, and businesses. The latest addition is the Cheesecake Factory.

Town leaders and mall managers say it's a big draw for new business. “Now we are getting retailers that are specific to Monroe County and nowhere else, but the town of Pittsford," said Mike Wilmot, GM for Pittsford Plaza.  

With the opening of the Cheesecake  Factory, customers who waited for months are glad they don't have to travel out of town to dine at their favorite restaurant. "It's one of my favorite places to go," said one. 

 
More construction is underway at the Pittsford Plaza at the site of the former Chase Pitkin. That one former retailers footprint will be divided into four to five different shops and extra parking spaces, and the space of the former Cohoe's department store will soon become a liquor store.

“We were confident it would refill it's and ability to reuse old space and convert it into new space,"  Carpenter said.
