Bruno accuses Spitzer of "political espionage"

Senate Republican leader Joe Bruno is accusing Governor Eliot Spitzer of "political espionage."

A report by Attorney General Andrew Cuomo out earlier this week stated two of the Governor's aides were out of line by using state police to track Bruno's travel with state aircraft.
The report then stated Spitzer's employees had a plan to generate press coverage once they had obtained information about Bruno's travel.

Bruno says he believes the governor was involved. 
Speaking for the first time since the report came out, Bruno says there may be a need for Senate hearings to investigate the matter further.
He says, "He's the chief executive.  He is going to be accountable for his own actions.  I'm not going to second guess.  But I can tell you this: It's not going to go away because these people cannot look the other way.  They can't fold their arms and say 'We're not going to be accountable.  We're not going to be responsive.'  It's not going to happen."
Spitzer maintains he had no knowledge of the alleged activity.
In response to the report, Governor Spitzer has suspended a top aide and reassigned another.

Cuomo's report also finds Bruno's use of state aircraft was in accordance with existing regulations.

Meanwhile Governor Spitzer's Press Secretary Christine Anderson says, quote, "Senate Hearings on this issue are unfounded and serve only to distract state government from the people's business that must move forward."
The state investigations committee is reviewing data and talking to those involved in the scandal
