Survivor of Connecticut home invasion has ties to Rochester

petit_dr_william2007-07-25-1185361361.jpgA Connecticut doctor with local ties to Rochester is the sole survivor of a violent home invasion.

The family was held hostage for several hours before the 2 suspects set the home on fire.

Doctor Petit survived, but was severely injured. His wife and 2 daughters were killed.

The suspects, described as "career criminals", were later arrested.

They face a number of charges including kidnapping, robbery, and sexual assault.

Petit did his residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in the 1980's.

He is a diabetes specialist.
