Ontario County #1 in DWI convictions in the state

P-ONTARIOCO2007-07-25-1185374452.jpgIn 2006 a total of 457 convictions. 432 were convicted for DWI as charged.

and 25 for a lesser conviction DWAI. For the past two decades prosecutors and police have been cracking down on drunk drivers. District  Attorney Mike Tantillo says no plea deals, experienced attorneys and good police work are making the difference.


“So by focusing on drunk drivers, by taking repeat drunk drivers off the roads and incarcerating them in large numbers when they have a history. We’ve taken a lot of dangerous drivers off the roads,” said Ontario County District Attorney Mike Tantillo.


Since the late 80’s Ontario County has reduced the number of DWI’S by more than half.
