Omnipoint Communicatios want to provide better coverage to customers inside their homes. At Tuesday night’s Greece Zoning Board Appeals Committee meeting they proposed building a cell phone tower shaped like a bell tower behind the Lawson road church on 25 Lawson road.
"Most of the residents in the area are upset about it mainly because of the building of a 105 ft. structure in the close proximity to their homes. It's approximately 33 feet from my lot line, but all the residents it’s close to and no matter how esthetically pleasing they are going to try and make this it’s not going to be like anything in the area because it’s very flat.” James Sansone, business owner.
They say it's needed to provide better service for customers who've complained about their service. The Greece planning board is scheduled to meet Wednesday evening at seven to talk about the issue.
