Oak Hill controversy

A barrier composed of poles and netting, and aimed to keep the balls hit by golfers using the Oak Hill Country Club driving range from hitting nearby homes, first raised the eyebrows, and then the ire of neighbors.Residents of the Estates at Woodbury note the barrier erected this past spring, with poles two feet wide and 77 feet high to support 39,000 square feet of netting, are double the size of the barrier they replaced. The residents consider them an eyesore.
But they were more chagrined upon learning Oak Hill didn'ttget a variance to erect them, which is required by the Pittsford Town Code anytime someone seeks to erect a fence more than 6 feet high.
The Pittsford Zoming Board of Appeals is now considering an application by Oak Hill for the variance, but one which would actually allow the poles to soar even higher...while members of the Estates at Woodbury Homeowners Association have hired a lawyer in an attempt to block it.
