schumer2007-07-23-1185188077.jpgTrying to get a passport has become somewhat of a hassle for many New Yorkers, with the average wait period over 4 months.

New York State Senator Charles Schumer is calling on President Bush Monday to quickly sign legislation that would expedite the lengthy process.

The legislation would allow the State Department to hire hundreds of processors to break what Schumer's office is calling the passport "bottleneck."
The State Department reportedly receives more than 1,000,000 passport applications per month.
