Step Forward For Farmington Resort

Updated: July 19, 2007
The Finger Lakes Region will likely soon be home to the largest resort of its kind in New York State. Wednesday night the Town of Farmington approved preliminary plans for the resort, which includes an indoor water-park, hotels, a convention center and more. It's slated to be built off 332 and 41, not far from the Finger Lakes Gaming and Race Track.

Developers hope to break ground sometime in October or November. The 86 acre resort would be called the Glacier Lakes Resort and Aquazonia Indoor Water-world. It would include a 70-thousand square foot heated indoor water-park, 2 hotels, restaurants, a spa and a Regional Convention Center which would allow Ontario County to attract State-wide conventions.

Final approval of the plans is expected within the next 2 months. Developers hope to have Phase 1 of the resort up and running by this time next year.

There are plans for Phase two which include a large shopping center. The resort is expected to attract 300-thousand people a year and generate an additional 20 to 25-million dollars for the tourism industry.
