In our Scholastic Arts Spotlight, meet a talented singer from
Rebecca Mosher says she's been singing since she could talk in full sentences. Opera is her love.
"It's very theatrical. I think it's because my voice isn't suited to sing country or pop or anything else, and I love singing high notes. It's just always come naturally," says Rebecca.
Rebecca is in good company at
"Along the way we've had a lot of well-rounded musicians, but for opera, yes Rebecca's goal is a little different. But we all appreciate it, because we've learned a lot of opera over the years listening to her," says Kathy.
Rebecca is a member of the Eastman Youth Chamber Singers, and is dedicated to her voice lessons at the
"Well I've taken lessons at Eastman for three, maybe four years but I've also taken a bunch of AP theory classes and I've learned piano and I've learned the trombone and I'm teaching myself guitar. I have a wide musical background."
Her next step? Voice study at SUNY Fredonia. Graduate school after that, followed by a career in opera.
