Jessica Slover can't remember a time when she wasn't drawing and painting. She loves the challenge of going from a clean canvas to a finished masterpiece. "It's really easy to get frustrated when you're drawing something or when you're trying to make something look real or capture emotion," she says, "and so I think you really have to want it you really have to have the desire to finish it and to get through it." Jessica has an award winning portfolio. She prefers to work in pencil, and mostly in black and white. She loves to draw portraits. She says, "I love the challenge especially of trying to make things look real, of trying to capture expression, especially in portraits and faces, that's my favorite thing to do." Art teacher Kathleen O'Neil says Jessica has passion, drive, and a style that's all her own. "She'll take any assignment you give her and she'll combine her passion for art and her energy and her hard work ethic, and she'll bring back amazing work. She's outstanding."
Next fall, Jessica will attend RIT to study art and art design. "My dream would be to live in New York City and have a huge gallery and be part of the art world." She says drawing and painting have taught her she can only do her best in something if she really wants it, and she really wants a life in the arts!
