Rochester, NY – The Ugly Disco, together with members of the Ten Ugly Men, want all the dudes and dudettes out there to know that it’s time to start making plans to attend the 4th annual Ugly Disco Bash which is being held on Saturday, April 21st. The proceeds from this year’s groovin’ party will benefit The Boys and Girls Club of Rochester.
The Party
With over 4,000 people shakin’ their groove thing, The Rochester Riverside Convention Center will once again be THE place for all things Disco on Saturday, April 21st, 2007.From the VIP Pre-Party at , until , Disco lovers will funk it up to the sounds of Nik Fever-Wrath of Polyester, DJ Doug, The Sky Coasters and Uncle Plum. “We are very excited about this year’s Ugly Disco”, says Alan Wood, president of the Disco board.“We’ve spent pretty much every day since the 2006 party planning to make sure this year’s event is even better than last year!”
The Reason
“Several years ago, Alan Wood and I were looking for a way to give back to our community while providing fun at the same time.” said Mike Donoghue, president of Premium Mortgage and co-founder of The Ugly Disco.“A few meetings and ideas later, we came up with The Ugly Disco Bash.”Held in Rochester since 2004, the Ugly Disco is an annual dance party filled with polyester, platforms and plenty of dancing fun.Since the first party, Mike, Alan and the rest of the crew have donated the proceeds to a local charitable organization. This year is no different. “As we looked for an organization to benefit from this year’s proceeds, it became important to us to find one that worked tirelessly for our community without much fanfare. The Boys and Girls Club of Rochester fit that bill exactly. With the help of Premium Mortgage, Realty USA and Entercom and other major sponsors, we will be able to help the Boys and Girls Club purchase much needed equipment and continue to serve the community”
The Organization
Boys and Girls Clubs of Rochester is a local autonomous, not-for-profit organization with ties to a national affiliate. Although other cities have had Boys Clubs for more than a hundred years, Rochester was without a club of its own until the 1970’s. Their mission “to inspire and enable young people of all backgrounds to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens” is accomplished through a variety of education, career, art, sports and leadership programs. Many of the programs are only made possible through the generosity of local individuals and corporations.
