Melanie Taylor scored 23 points as Batavia Notre Dame handled Oriskany 52-40 in the Class D state final at Hudson Valley CC Sunday afternoon.

The game was tied at the half and Oriskany took a two point lead on Melanie Zizzi's third quarter three pointer.

Taylor answered with a layup that also drew a foul. She didn't make the free throw, but the play did spark a 14-0 run that gave the Irish a 40-28 lead after three quarters.

Oriskany got no closer than seven points the rest of the way and Batavia ND had the second girls state title in school history.
