When Kearney needed a hero, Antwoine Anderson stepped up.

Anderson scored the game-tying bucket in regulation and helped put the game away in overtime as Bishop Kearney got past Troy 65-58 in the Class AA state semifinals at the Glens Falls Civic Center Saturday afternoon.

Anderson finished a fast break layup to even the score at 53 with 100 seconds to play. Both teams had chances at a winning bucket, but neither could score.

In overtime, Alex English broke a 55-all tie with a bucket and then Chinonso Obokoh's steal led to an Anderson run-out that gave the Kings a four point lead. From there, Anderson and Thomas Bryant made enough free throws to seal the win.

Troy led 43-32 early in the third quarter, but Kearney closed the quarter on a 14-2 run to take a one point lead to the fourth.

The Flying Horses had a four-point lead halfway through the final period, but did not score again. Bryant hit a floater to cut the lead to a pair and Anderson tied it with the fast break layup.

Anderson finished with 25 points and Bryant had 21.

The Kings will play for all the Class AA marbles Sunday at 3:15pm against New Rochelle, the same team who wowed the nation with a leaping, half-court heave at the buzzer to win their sectional final.

The Bishop Kearney girls team will join the boys in the state finals.

Skyler Gausney-Jones scored 22 points and the Kings blew open a close game by winning the fourth quarter 15-2 in a 56-41 win over Ausable Valley in the Class C state semifinals at Hudson Valley Community College.

Kearney will play for the state final at HVCC Sunday with tip at 1:45pm. The Kings will face Harpursville from the Binghamton area.
