Rochester, NY--The pizza toppings are chopped, the food is stocked, and wings are ready to be fried at Pontillo's Pizzeria in Rochester's East End. Staff spent nearly all of Friday preparing for Saturday.
"We'll make 60 sliced pies tomorrow at 11am and it will not stop until 3am," said owner, Cathy Fricano.
Parade day at the pizzeria makes for a Saturday unlike any other throughout the entire year.
"Business will triple. It will be a triple Saturday, a normal triple Saturday...an abnormal triple Saturday," said Fricano.
Nearby tavern, Murphy's Law is also anticipating big business.
Bar manager Andrew Bochetto said they've stocked up on just about everything and stepped up security too.
After all, the St. Patrick's Day Parade creates the Irish pub's busiest Saturday of the year.
They open at 8 am and are expecting thousands throughout the day.
"The bagpipers come in and out and people are just spending and spending," said Bochetto. So, it's good for the bartenders and it's good for business."
Meanwhile, back at Pontillo's Pizzeria, it's business as usual Friday night, and with any luck--Saturday will attract new customers year round.
"Maybe they didn't even know we were here. So, maybe for St. Patty's Day they come out and enjoy it with their family and we're their neighborhood pizza shop," Fricano said.
