Aquinas has featured girls boxing in the Mission Bouts for years, but for the first time this year, some of those girls were from another school.

Our Lady of Mercy's fledgling boxing program was invited to join in with Aquinas at the 81st Mission Bouts Friday night at the Wegman-Napier Center. Three Mercy fighters fought Aquinas girls in three exhibition bouts that were not scored and no winners were announced.

In all, there were 13 bouts, including five fights involving girls. As always, a portion of the proceeds goes to the Basilian Missions in South America and Sugarland, Texas.
