Even after a valiant comeback from (4)Marshall/Freddie Thomas, (1)Irondequoit held them off to win 47-34 in the Class AA2 seminfinal from Blue Cross Arena
With the score situated at 30-8 in the third quarter, it looked all but certain that Irondequoit would run away the game. Marshall/Freddie Thomas went on a 14-0 run to cut the deficit to eight points. The Eagles saw their led trimmed to four when M/FT made it 36-32 with four minutes remaining, but that was as close as the game would get in the dying minutes.
Wyatt Smith led Irondequoit with 15 points. Tyler Stenglein also chipped in 12, including some key buckets late in the 4th. Sergio Alicea led Marshall/Freddie Thomas with 15 points that also included three 3-pointers.
(1)Irondequoit will play (2)Greece Athena in the AA2 final at 5:00 on Sunday from Blue Cross Arena. It's the fourth time in eight years that the two have squared off in the sectional championship.
