The Philadelphia Wings found themselves on the winning end against the Rochester Knighthawks for the first time since 2009, defeating their East division rival 10-8 at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester Saturday.

Despite falling behind 4-0 in the first quarter, the Wings regrouped to put the Knighthawks away and collect their first win since defeating the Rock in Toronto in mid-January. Philadelphia used a four goal second quarter to get within two at the break. Captain Brodie Merrill's shorthanded breakaway goal provided the momentum heading into halftime and the Wings never looked back.

Merrill scored two goals on the night and had an assist, to earn his 300th career NLL point.  The Wings got two goals each from Drew Westervelt, Kevin Buchanan and Kevin Crowley who led the team with five points. A goal each from Kyle Hartzell and former Rochester player Jordan Hall, rounded out the Wings scoring. With this win, the Wings improve to 3-3 on the season and move into third place in the East division.

After allowing four first quarter goals, goalie Brandon Miller buttoned things up, allowing only two goals in the second half and withstanding a barrage of shots in the last two minutes of the game as Rochester tried to even things. Miller's 39 saves was the net minder's most since the Wings last win on January 19.

In the Wings and Knighthawks previous match up earlier this month, former Wing Dan Dawson torched Philadelphia for 11 points on five goals, but was limited by the Wings stifling defense to just two assists. Casey Powell led the Knighthawks with three goals, while rookie Johnny Powless added two goals in defeat.

The Knighthawks play next on Saturday, March 2nd on the road at Colorado.
