Penfield Baseball Claim Section V Class AAA Title

In a game that featured several terrific defensive plays, it took a bloop base hit for Penfield to grab the go-ahead run in a 201 win over Webster Thomas in the Class AAA Section V final from Frontier Field on Thursday.
Thomas took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth thanks to an RBI single to left by Trevor Thomas. The Patriots tied the game in the bottom of the fifth after a run-scoring error on a fly ball to right, then they grabbed the lead on Tom Campbell's bloop double to right.
With the win, Penfield advances to the sectional qualifier against Class AA champion Victor. That game will take place at 3:00 from Nietopski Field in the town of Sweden on Saturday.
