Bryce Harper may only be 19 years old, but he's already gathered a groundstorm of publicity before playing in his first major league game. The Washington Nationals called up their #1 prospect on Friday after placing Ryan Zimmerman on the 15-day disabled list.
Harper comes to the Nats after a brief stint in Triple-A with the Syracuse Chiefs. His final minor league games were at Frontier Field in Rochester as the Chiefs took on the Rochester Red Wings.
In 20 games this season with Syracuse, Harper has a .250 batting average, to go along with 1 home run, 3 RBI, and a .708 OPS.
Harper was taken as the #1 overall pick by the Washington Nationals in the 2010 MLB draft. He featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated when he was only 16 years old.
