Bills Select Stephon Gilmore with 10th Pick

It may have been a surprise pick to Buffalo Bills fans, but GM
Buddy Nix and company went cornerback by selecting South Carolina's
Stephon Gilmore with the 10th pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd was available when the Bills selected at #10, but the team chose to continue rebuilding their defense. Selecting Gilmore does fill a need for the Bills. Last year, the Bills gave up several high-yardage plays in the air, and Gilmore is expected to be help limit those big plays this upcoming season.
Gilmore comes to Western, New York after starting 40 games for South Carolina. He is regarded as one of the top defensive players in this year's draft.
Drafting Gilmore is one more move the Bills have made to improve
their defense. This offseason, the Bills made defense lineman Mario
Williams the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. The Bills
also signed free agent defense end Mark Anderson after picking up 10
sacks last season for the New England Patriots.
The Bills still have 9 picks left to make in the 2012 draft. They have two selections in Friday's 2nd and 3rd rounds (picks 41 and 71).
