The Greece Athena girls redeemed themselves by winning 65-36 over Mercy in the 2012 Section V Class AA championship. Two years ago, it was Mercy that ended Greece Athena's season in the title game.

It did not take long for Athena to assert themselves. By halftime, the score was 36-11 in favor of the Trojans, and they continued to roll in the second half. Shannon Kirkpatrick scored 24 points and also claimed tournament MVP honors. Also scoring in double-figures for Athena was Dana Cohan who chipped in 10.

Mercy was led by Samantha Sorge's 7 points. She made all-tournament team.
