Reported by: Thad Brown Saturday, Nov 7, 2009 @12:38am EST Chris Nevinger rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns while quarterback Ryan Owens chipped in a pair of scores on the ground as Letchworth won the school's first ever sectional championship with a 28-6 win over Attica at Rochester Rhinos Stadium Friday night.
Nevinger put Letchworth on top with a four yard TD run on the team's first possession and then Owens scored from 55 yards out in the second quarter to make it 13-0 at the half. Letchworth added to their lead in the fourth quarter on an eight yard Owens TD run after Nevinger recovered a fumble at the Attica 30. The Blue Devils finally found the end zone when Zach Fleiss hit Brad Clark for a 42 yard touchdown pass, but Nevinger scored in the final minute to finish things for Letchworth. The Indians are now 10-0 and will face the Section Six (Buffalo) Class C champion in next week's state quarterfinals. |
