Reported by: WROC-TV Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @08:25pm EST Just days after his re-election, Rochester mayor Bob Duffy is taking an unusual step. He's asking his senior staff to resign and re-apply for their jobs.
That includes the fire and police chiefs, commissioners and department directors. About 15 staff members in all. Duffy says don't read anything into this. "Anyone knows that if I want to look someone in the eye and walk them out the door, I would do it tomorrow and not blink. I've done that before it's part of the job, an unpleasant part, but this is more of a true evaluation of what we accomplished," said Duffy. The resignations will take effect December 31st. Duffy says he'll make a decision on the re-hiring of these staff members early next month. |
