Reported by: WROC-TV Tuesday, Nov 3, 2009 @05:50pm EST Students in Rochester city schools had Tuesday off, but some of them were still hard at work.
They had a training day, along with school resource officers and school safety officers. The program, held at Monroe Community Hospital, brought students and police together to brainstorm about keeping schools safe. They team up to develop strategies to make their ideas come to life. It's also about bridging the gap between kids and cops. "It allows students to have a more positive relationship with both school resource officers and school safety officers, rather than just at the negative points in their life," said Lori Baldwin, an emergency management coordinator. The training session is paid for by a Safe Schools/Healthy Students federal grant. |
