Reported by: Bob Metcalfe Wednesday, Sep 30, 2009 @05:50pm EDT Pre-schoolers from Cindy Zhe's class at the St. Agnes School in Avon agree, apples taste great! She takes her classes to The Apple Farm in Victor every year, for a fun lesson in healthy eating.
"It's a wonderful way to learn about healthy foods, and to know where apples come from," said Zhe. "They don't just come in the store. " "An apple is good for you. It's a good snack. It's got lots of vitamins and minerals and its good for your teeth," said Munir Bahai, who has been growing apples here for almost 40 years. He's a firm believer in the benefits of his apples, no matter the variety. So what's the best way to get your kid hooked on apples? Munir said that kids love the red apples, but the sweeter, the better. And that old addage about an apple a day? "I'm 70 years old, and I don't even plan on retiring," said Munir. And he doesn't take a single medication! |
