If you're trying to do little things in your life to help out the environment. You're not alone. Now there's a website, started by a local woman with tips for everyday green living.

It's called thegreenists.com and it was started by Allie Larkin, who lives in Rochester.

"You don't have to come to the site with any information about going green already, you don't have to feel intimidated by trying something new because we're all trying something new," Larkin says.

For two years, she ran a different website called "Allies Answers" But this new site has gotten a lot of others involved. 12 people are currently writing for the site and sharing their "green" tips.

"I'm always willing to try something new in the name of going green and I think it keeps things exciting," adds Larkin.

She writes about how to go green with personal care products and pets. The writers range from teachers, to moms, there's even a banker and a forest ranger on board.

Rachel Chaffee is one of the site's contributors. She is focusing on how to go green with fashion.

"The last two I wrote were more, how can you take the clothing you have and make yourself a new wardrobe while recycling it in to something different. Cutting it up, sewing it in a different place," Chaffee says. "I also did a blog post on how to recycle your bathing suits."

She says it feels good to be part of the green movement.

"For me, I find myself irritated by the mass amount of waste we go through. And I'm frustrated that we throw so much away and how bad it is for the environment."
