Reported by: WROC-TV Tuesday, Apr 21, 2009 @03:35pm EDT RIT is one of four sites around the state that will receive up to $1.5 million to help business become more enviromentally friendly, and help fledgling green businesses take off.The university, located in Henrietta, was selected along with sites in Buffalo, Syracuse, and Brooklyn to become "clean-energy incubators." The incubators will "work with entrepreneurs to commercialize the products that will be required to meet the world's growing demand for energy. Clean energy business incubators offer on-site business services customized early-stage business assistance, networking opportunities and access to technical resources. Incubators help early stage businesses mature rapidly into viable businesses." The incubators are part of a $276.5 million investment by the state to help create clean energy jobs. Most of that money will go to NYSERDA, for programs to help the state reduce its energy consumption. |
