Its probably your child's dream or maybe its still your dream. A massive library of video games.

"We have examples of every major console thats made from the Magnavox Odyssey to all the way up to the recent ones," says Jon-Paul Dyson of the Strong National Museum of Play.

From the old Atari gaming stick to the Nintendo DS, its all there. The Strong National Museum of Play is building one of the largest video game exhibits in the world. 15,000 square feet to be exact.

"It will be hands on, it will be full of interpretive educational content. It will be a great place for people to come and learn and of course play," says Dyson.

Opening up a gaming exhibit isnt all fun and games. The point is to better understand how gaming affects our everyday lives.

"How do we spend our time? How do we relate to people? There even changing the way we think, the way our brain operates, we think differently," says Dyson.

The exhibit is slated to open in 2012. They already have about 10,000 games. But, they want more.

"Some people say well I'm not a gamer. I don't play games but we are increasingly coming to a point where everyone is going to be a gamer of some sort," says Dyson.

You don't have wait for the new exhibit.  The museum has plenty of games to play on display now.

"The Atari 2600 was inducted into our hall of fame. Its a chance for people to go back and play those old games. You see parents playing with their kids where the parents actually have the leg up"

That's comforting news to gamers who just cant wait to play and learn.

If you would like to donate a video game, you can call the Strong National Museum of Play at 585-263-2700 or email JPDyson@museumofplay.org
