Reported by: WROC-TV Monday, Dec 15, 2008 @03:28pm EST Forty years ago this week, Santa Claus rode into town in style. Rochester firefighters perched his sleigh atop a fire truck, and then loaded the rig up with presents. Their destination? The School of the Holy Childhood. Thirty years ago this week, city leaders were pitching a new plan to get around Rochester. A horizontal elevator, otherwise known as a people mover, that would travel on tracks throughout downtown, from parking garage to parking garage. The idea never got off the ground. Ten years ago this week, the home of the Buffalo Bills got a new name. After the Bills secured tens of millions in state funding, Governor George Pataki suggested the stadium be named after the Bills' owner. So in December 1998, Rich stadium was officially re-named Ralph Wilson Stadium. |
