  • Congressional Race Heats up: Lee Admits to Computer Hac...

The race for Congress in the 26th District just got hotter, and computer hacking is the reason.

According to a report in the Buffalo News today, Republican Candidate Chris Lee was fired back in 1989 from the company Ingram Micro for hacking into the company's computer system to alter credit account information.

Lee acknowledged the lapse more nearly two decades ago, saying quote: "I made a mistake".

While the report did not connect the information to Lee's democratic challenger Alice Kryzan, Lee's campaign reps said it seemed like an attempted smear.

Nick Langworthy, Lee's Campaign Manager said this, "If there's one thing that can be learned from this 11th hour stunt, it's that Alice Kryzan is willing to say and do anything to elected to congress."

Kryzan responded by saying, "I was even more disappointed to hear that rather than admit the gravity of his actions, he instead once again, attacked me and my campaign."

The job Lee held at Ingram Micro was his first job out of college in 1989. Both candidates are vying for the seat held by Republican Tom Reynolds. Reynolds served five terms in the house and is not seeking re-election this year.
