Reported by: WROC-TV Wednesday, Oct 1, 2008 @08:15am EDT The two congressional hopefuls in the 26th District are addressing the Wall Street bailout plan, which Congress will take up again on Wednesday. Democrat Alice Kryzan said the U.S. House should have passed the bill to restore stability in the markets. She said she'd like to see some changes in the bill. "I'd like to see more protection for homeowners, a provision in there that permits bankruptcy judges to rewrite home mortgages," said Kryzan. "For people, I think that if we get that strengthened, that we would see more Democrats and maybe even Republicans supporting the bill." Chris Lee, the Republican businessman running against Kryzan, said in a statement that "we need to stop the finger pointing and work together to restore taxpayer trust and confidence in the economy. We need a bipartisan solution that will bring liquidity and stability to our financial markets now." |
