An Arcadia woman has been arrested for five counts of animal cruelty.

Forty-seven-year-old Anita Reed was taken into custody on Thursday by the Wayne County Sheriffs.

A patrol officer drove by her home and saw some malnourished horses in the roadway.

After further investigation by Animal Cruelty investigators, she was arrested and issued a ticket to appear later for a court date to answer to the charges.

Her horses have been surrendered to the Wayne County Humane Society.
