Reported by: WROC-TV Wednesday, Sep 10, 2008 @11:30am EDT Wegmans issued a voluntary recall Wednesday of some of it's store bakery bagels. Also being recalled - bialys, flattened bagels with various toppings. The baked goods may contain pieces of metal. Wegmans said that a metal spring from a mixer entered a batch of dough, which was made at the supermarket chain's central bakeshop in Rochester. The problem surfaced after a customer complaint. The metal could present a choking hazard. Some of the dough is shaped and baked at individual supermarkets, and sold in the bakery in packages of 6. They are NOT the Wegmans brand packaged bagels in the dairy or frozen food departments. Wegmans said that there have been no injuries reported, and that approximately 1,011 cases of bagels may be affected. The bagels were purchased in between August 24th and September 9th. The company said it's recalling 2 weeks worth of bagels out of "an abundance of caution."
