Reported by: WROC-TV Wednesday, Jul 2, 2008 @01:05pm EDT Veterans headed to Nazareth College this fall won't have to pay a dime for their tuition. The college announced this morning that it will provide $7,500 per year for any veteran who has served for at least 6 months post 9-11. Between state funding and the federal goverment's promise to match any private scholarship, the college's $24,000 yearly bill will be covered. That's good news for Sgt. Mark Hutchinson, who said the money will go to good use. "I think it's really going to help with books also," said Sgt. Hutchinson. "I mean, $200 for a biology book is kind of tough. I have both biology and chemistry. Also the VA benefits from the state, that's also really great." Nazareth president Daan Braveman said he anticipates 20-30 vets will take advantage of the scholarship. The money is for undergraduate students only. |
